home-made ricciarelli

Cynthia and I went to Italy recently. We really wanted to try out some of the yummy Siennese cookies and such, but didn't end up having a chance to buy any. Her mom did, however, and said we could have some when she opened them up we got back. We came by her house a week later and her mom had eaten them all. =)

So... Cynthia's out of town this week for work, she'll be back a little before Christmas. In Sienna, they were selling ricciarelli all over the place, they're a traditional Christmas cookie of the region. I'm baking up a big batch of them, some with a little ginger and cinnamon added, and some with cocoa.

I'm about to stick them in the oven, so we'll see how it goes, but they look like they've turned out AWESOME.

YUM! Can't wait to surprise her. =)
